10 Reasons is how I review films, restaurants, books and music here at Unobjective Intelligence. I lay out 10 reasons why you SHOULD or SHOULD NOT see the movie, eat at the restaurant, read the book or buy the cd. They are listed in order from least important to most important.
**NOTE** I actually like The Dark Knight. I don’t think it is the end-all be-all of movies as most are making it out to be. I certainly do not think that it is Heath Ledger’s best performance and I really do not think that it’s the “best movie of the summer.” With that said, my 10 reasons you SHOULD NOT see the Dark Knight are motivated mainly from the various reasons I hear people say they’re going to see the movie. So, if I mention a reason that has ran through your head to see it, then DON’T…otherwise, have at it.
10 Reasons you SHOULD NOT see The Dark Knight:
10.) Because Christian Bale is hot. Ladies (or gentlemen), you rarely get to see much of the mom-beater outside of his costume, so you might be disappointed if you’re seeing it because you think the Balester is hot stuff.
9.) Because everyone else is. I just heard that everyone else is it stapling their hands to the wall too. EXACTLY.
8.) Because you heard it has killer special effects. The effects are no different than any other movie that’s come out lately. If special effects are your thing save your nine dollars.
7.) Because I heard it’s a great family film. PSSH. (I seriously heard someone say this the other day)
6.) Because from the trailers it looks like there is a ton of action in it. Of course there is a crap load of action in it…Hollywood knows that no one would come see it if it didn’t.
5.) Because you love the Batman franchise. If that’s the only reason you see this movie you’ll probably be let down.
4.) Because it’s a summer blockbuster and I’m a movie buff and **whine** you really really really need to see it. Please PLEASE PLEASE…if you’re a movie buff, don’t go see this movie just because it’s a blockbuster. I really don’t want to listen to you whine about why you were let down.
3.) Because it’s the largest opening-weekend money making film ever. (Look below and see number 1)
2.) Because you think that the only way your co-workers (classmates, or whatever) will think you’re cool is if you go and see it. (Consequently that’s why I went to see it)
1.) Because you miss Heath Ledger and you heard it’s his greatest performance of all time and you feel like you’re paying some sort of homage to him by going and see it. News flash folks: Heath Ledger was way better in Brokeback Mountain, Monsters Ball, A Knights Tale, The Patriot and 10 things I hate about you. You want to “pay homage to Heath Ledger” go rent one of those films.
